Hammer ons

Have you ever heard a wicked guitar solo and wondered how on earth that guitarist played like that?  I know I certainly have, often times when I’ve tried to teach myself a solo from a song there are sections that just go too fast for me to play.  I end up having to improvise a more user friendly version of the song that still sounds similar.  I have also found that most guitar solo notes come from a root chords, and that if I play that chord during the corresponding part in the solo the combination sounds really nice.  The trick is just figuring out which guitar chords go in which places.
