Anthony Loeff nonprofit worker is writing about Emacspeak for visually impaired surfers

November 2, 2008 on 3:10 pm | By admin | In Technology

Apple Mac OS X also comes with a built-in Microsoft Narrator, called NonVisual. Speakup is making the web a more inviting place for visually impaired people. Almost all versions of Microsoft Windows Vista Pro include a screen magnifier for people who are blind, and some simple Microsoft Narrator.

In addition to this, next June volunteer Anthony Loeff is testing about software applications for visually impaired Near 10 percent of those deemed legally blind, by any measure, have no vision. Access technology such as software for screen reading and screen magnifiers enable to use computer applications. A persons choice of a piece of software for screen reading is dictated by many factors, including platform and the role of organizations like charities, schools, and employers.

Linux distributions for the blind people include Knoppix.

These days Apple OS X includes Oralux, a more feature-rich a peice of screen reading software.

More and more the digital screen readers are being bundled with operating system distributions. Recent versions of Microsoft Windows XP Pro come with the rather basic Emacspeak. Approximately legally people suffering from blindness 85 percent do not use computers. Only a small fraction of visually impaired surfers have Internet access.

Screen reading software are a form of assistive technology potentially useful to people who are blind, often in combination with screen magnifiers. Digital screen reader choice is contentious for blind people and strong preferences are common. A screen reader is a software application that attempts to identify and interpret what is being displayed on the screen.

October 31, 2008 on 7:19 am | By admin | In Technology

If you’re suddenly having problems with crashes, freezes, error messages, or a creeping sluggishness in your Windows computer, then you might be able to do a few simple things to fix it.  If you’re just now having these problems then I definitely suggest doing a cleanup of your computer.  Get yourself a spyware remover, an antivirus program if you don’t already have one, and a registry cleaner.

The best registry cleaner software will allow you to scan the registry for obsolete, invalid registry keys, and orphaned registry entries and then remove them all with a simple mouse click.  A bloated and cluttered registry can be a big cause of computer problems.  Follow this up with a spyware scan.

The Fabulous World of Digital Versatile Disc Recorders

Digital Versatile Disc recorders can be used with a digital TV to tape your favourite children’s programmes & films as well as to view pre-recorded television. Fantastic image & sound quality, although the recording facility makes them noticeably more pricey than Digital Versatile Disc players and they can also be harder to use than Video Cassette Recorders. The range of recordable makes available these days can also add to the buyers’ confusion.Having the accurate connections between your DVD recorder and your television & stereo can undeniably make a significant dissimilarity to the quality of the audio and picture. The DVD connections to think about:S-video connection: This is the next greatest thing to component video & is a choice for all DVD Players that do not take account of component output and also televisions that don’t contain component input. You may need another separate cable regardless of this the image difference ought to be definitely worth it.SCART leads: A widespread form of connection used in the UK manufactured goods is the SCART lead. This allows both audio and image signals. SCART connections are very common on DVD players and newer televisions. Gold coated SCART leads give a considerably enhanced connection. A SCART connection will without a doubt give you a better picture than S-Video will and is close to component standard. SCART cables are not often integrated inside players. Anticipate to shell out something like £25.Audio connectors: Digital Versatile Disc recorders, predominately the more top of the range models, might have oodles of sound outputs. Outputs are likely to incorporate phono, digital coaxial & digital optical. If you are attempting to connect to a separate hi-fi player this could be by far a very vital feature to have. Find great offers on numerous products including, Sony DVD Recorders at Sound and Vision!Progressive scan is the up-to-the-minute buzzword in the DVD recorder business and even as more top end recorders incorporate it, it can not in truth be used except if you have a digital telly. With it your image can be refreshed at sixty times each & every second as a result helping to make a remarkable more or less flicker free image & is superior to anything delivered by the many interlaced scanning techniques.

Many Megapixels

October 29, 2008 on 11:14 am | By admin | In Technology

It is amazing how technology seems sometimes like it’s evolving at lightning speeds. My digital camera has only 4 megapixels and it’s not very old, maybe between 2 and 4 years old. My mom recently bought a digital camera exactly like mine, only of course it’s the newest model. She has a whopping 12 megapixels, not far behind the Nikon D90 at 12.3 megapixels. I’m jealous of her megapixels - she has three times as many as I do! That makes for some very nice, clear pictures that are rarely if ever fuzzy. You would have to be very shaky to take a blurry picture with that camera.
