Gift vouchers in the form we know today have been used since the 1950s and have grown in popularity decade by decade. There is not much you cannot not purchase with a gift voucher as long as it is on sale by the people who originally issued the gift voucher. Gift vouchers are usually sold for the same as their face value although you can occasionally pick one up for less than its face value.
